Region 2-3A has a lot of talent returning which will make the playoffs exciting. Ponder returns 5 all district players including the district MVP trifecta in Karly Ivy (District 10-3A MVP), Tate Wells (District 10-3A Offensive MVP), and Kassi Ballard (District 10-3A Defensive MVP). Gunter returns a strong backcourt with District 11-3A MVP Alyssa Tarpley and Blake Esnard. Winnsboro returns leading scorer Faith Acker and a core group of 3 pt shooters. Edgewood has made the regional quarterfinalist 2 consecutive seasons. Clara Pool and Kaley Nicholson are key returners for the Bulldogs.
The Gunter Tigers made the regional finals for the first time in 20 years last season. Gunter finished the season with a 26-6 record. The Tigers playoff run ended with a loss to state semifinalist Ponder. The Tigers lose All State guard Sarah Putknicki to graduation. The cupboard isn't bare for Gunter. District 11-3A MVP Alyssa Tarpley is back for her senior season. Backcourt mate Blake Esnard is also back for the also back for the Tigers. The Tigers are poised to make another regional tournament appearance.
Ponder has reached the playoffs 4 consecutive seasons. Prior to last season, the Lions reached the Bi-District round 3 straight seasons. This season looks promising for Ponder. The Lions return District 10-3A Offensive MVP Tate Wells. District 10-3A MVP Karly Ivy also returns for the Lions. That isn't all. Ponder returns 3 other all district players Kassi Ballard (District 10-3A MVP), Kenzie Crider, and Marlee Moynagh.
Winnsboro finished the season with an impressive 28-3 record. The Raiders season ended in the regional semifinals to state semifinalist Ponder. The Raiders return 7 lettermen. Laiken Allen who made over 120 3's for the Raiders last season graduated. But, Winnsboro has double figure scorers Faith Acker, Halle Darst, and Faith Sechrist back. Winnsboro is in good shape to make another playoff run to the regional tournament.

6 years ago Edgewood finished the season 3-23. Since then Edgewood has made the regional quarterfinals the last 2 seasons. The Bulldogs were regional finalist 3 yrs ago. Edgewood has big shoes to fill losing District MVP Keeley Randle, Addison Prater, Jacie Elliot, and Claire James. Edgewood returns Clara Pool, Kaley Nicholson who were both 1st team all district. The Bulldogs will be a major factor in the Region 2-3A playoff race.
